Show & Venue Information

Back in 1984 the Broadway show 42nd Street gained its West End premiere at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, where it would go on to win Best New Musical at the subsequent Laurence Olivier Awards.

Fast forward to 2017 and the West End venue once again welcomes 42nd Street as a high profile revival is staged under the direction of one of the show’s writers Mark Bramble. To call this one of the bggest shows of the year would be an understatement and it is clear that this is an unbeatable opportunity for a new generation of London theatergoers to witness a true classic.

This classic centres on the character of Peggy Sawyer, a woman who has swapped her home in the country for the bright lights of Broadway, landing a job in the chorus of a top show and disappearing amongst the host of performers in New York. But when the lead performer of the show drops out it might just be her chance at stardom.

But that’s not all – 42nd Street also features some memorable musical numbers ranging from the classic We’re In The Money to others like I Only Have Eyes For You, plus many others.

With additional songs and performances on top of the original, this new revamped version of 42nd Street will have to be seen to be believed, particularly with writer Mark Bramble in the director’s chair. Considering its background, which includes numerous Tony Awards as well as the mentioned Olivier Award, it is bound to be one of the most talked-about shows in the West End.

It runs at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
