The West End welcomes Evita back to the stage as the classic Andrew Lloyd Webber musical takes pride of place at the Phoenix Theatre. This time around the West End regular Emma Hatton takes on the iconic role of Eva Perón whilst Italian singer Gian Marco Schiaretti portrays Che. Both performers are experienced talents who will bring a lot to these iconic roles.

This is the latest production of the legendary show in recent year, following the 2014 run at the Dominion Theatre, which attracted fans across the capital.

Evita is a classic story that focuses on the real life of Eva Perón, the First Lady of Argentina, who rose to power from the slums to become a political force as the wife of President Juan Perón. It was a life that included charity work and a tragic end as she succumbed to cancer at the age of 33 in 1952.

The musical version adds many songs to the mix, some of which are considered iconic, including the classic Don’t Cry For Me Argentina. Additional tracks include Oh What A Circus, Another Suitcase In Hell and Rainbow High, among others.

As for the performers, Emma Hatton will be the most recognisable to West End audiences as she has appeared in some of the capital’s most famous musicals, making her a regular presence in Theatreland. Her work as Eva Perón will surely prove to be a match made in heaven as she performs some iconic songs.

As well as Hatton and Schiaretti, the cast is also set to include the likes of Oscar Balmaseda and Sarah O’Connor amongst many others.

Evita runs at the Phoenix Theatre in London’s West End, summer 2017.
