Show & Venue Information

2018 will prove to be a great time to be a Tina Turner fan as this fantastic musical opens its doors at the Aldwych Theatre. Tina will take audiences on a stand-out journey chronicling the rise of a pop culture phenomenon who has inspired countless performers and earned fans all around the world.

Phyllida Lloyd calls the shots on the production and she is just one of many talented individuals bringing Tina to the West End. Writers Katori Hall, Kees Prins and Frank Ketelaar are also onboard, whilst some stand-out performers will also be treading the boards onstage.

Together they present a story that begins with Tina’s early years and then continues as she begins her music career and reaches the top. This originally began in the 1950s but evolved over time so that she emerged as a monumental solo star in the following decades. Since that time her popularity has reached legendary status, with awards, worldwide fans and critical acclaim to her name.

Her albums, since the 1970s, have included the likes of Tina Turns The Country On in 1974, What’s Love Got To Do With It in 1993 and Twenty Four Seven in 1999, to name but a few, and during that same period she also made big screen appearances (such as Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome) and contributed to their soundtracks.

So it is easy to see how she has had pop culture success and why she is still held high as an influential and talented performer.

And this makes her status perfect for the stage treatment, with this musical joining a host of other jukebox hits in the capital as it plays at the Aldwych Theatre in the West End.
