In a radical take on Shakespeare’s fierce and energetic comedy of gender, Baptista Minola looks to marry off her two sons, the sweet-tempered Bianco and the rebellious Katherine. But, as relationships are challenged and a hierarchial structure threatened, what will it take to succeed? Cue an explosive courtship and a keenly witty portrayal of hierarchy and control.

The Taming of the Shrew isn’t the only RSC show to be performed at the Barbican this year. As part of the season, audiences can also watch As You Like It and Measure for Measure. But, if you’re wanting to see a play over 400 years old with a contemporary reinvention, you’ll have to book tickets for The Taming of the Shrew now.
