First staged at the National Theatre in 2007, War Horse returns to London as the first production to be performed at the brand-new Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre. Michael Morpurgo’s novel was adapted for the stage by Nick Stafford and features iconic puppets by the Handspring Puppet Company. Praised for its set design, choreography and nominated for best new play at the 2008 Olivier Awards, War Horse continues to dazzles audiences around the world. So, if you want to see a theatre classic revived in a brand new performance space, you’ll want to book tickets for War Horse.

As you walk into the theatre, it’ll feel like you’re stepping back in time to World War One. Set at the outbreak of World War One, Albert’s horse Joey is shipped off to France to assist the British Army throughout the war. Distraught, Albert wants nothing more than to be with Joey, so sets off on a dangerous adventure to the front line to rescue the equine. Along the way, see Albert and Joey deep in battlefield trenches, with Albert sacrificing his life in order to reunite with Joey and bring him home.

War Horse is one of many National Theatre productions which have transferred to the West End and beyond. Home, I’m Darling received a transfer to the Duke of York’s Theatre, while The Lehman Trilogy will open at the Piccadilly Theatre later in the year. But, with worldwide tours and the American production winning 5 Tony Awards, War Horse is arguably one of the most successful shows to come from the National Theatre in recent years. Don’t miss your chance to see the story brought to life and book your tickets now.

The current touring cast of War Horse is made of 34 People, with cast members taking on parts of the puppets that make up Joey through the ages.

Kit Harington originated the role of Albert at the National Theatre and the Gillian Lynne Theatre.

War Horse was first published in 1982.
